The Friday night panel discussion at the Logan Tabernacle went very well. The title of the discussion was "Rediscovering our heritage: Frugality and stewardship in the LDS faith". While topics covered just about every aspect of earth stewardship, my favorite part was having our local area seventy there, and hearing some of the things he said. Highlights: the church is trying out a recycling program in some of its local meetinghouses (I hope it goes well, we need more of that); he encouraged members to take steps that would minimize their environmental impact (including carbon emissions; it was nice to hear a church leader publicly state that climate change was happening, and encourage us to do something about it); he also brought up sport hunting, reminding members that most of the presidents of the church have publicly condemned the practice; and more. One of the local church leaders mentioned that he was glad we were doing the event, calling it a learning experience for him (a good thing, I hope). Anyway, it went well.
